Voted by the visitors of the ZonaReGGae site as the best
new roots album of 2009, 'All Kinda Wall' is Dubkey Records' first vocal set after three
dub albums. All the rhythms on this compilation were created in Sweden in these last four
years by Joel Eriksson - known as DoobieSound in the reggae world -
with vocals cut in several different countries. This is a dynamic modern roots set with
splendid contributions from relatively new singers and a couple of others who have been
recording for some time now.
Most of the tunes on 'All Kinda Wall' are current singjay chants, but we also get straight
singing from the likes of Jahvisst and Sammy Gold, two dub tracks, and 'Bless', an orthodox dub poem. The
lyrics are very direct: no pussyfooting or censorship here! The singers say what they really
want to say, and they mean it! Straight to Babylon's face!
If current true roots is your thing, this is a must!
